Abstract

The measure of the effectiveness of watershed development programmes depends on selecting the right set of evaluation indicators that reflect the programme’s goals, including resource management, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic benefits. In this paper, the focus is on the process of selecting and aggregating the key indicators to assess the success of watershed development initiatives. By categorizing indicators into relevant themes such as Terrain Management, Water Resources Utilization, Agronomic Vitality, Livestock Vitality, Employability, Human Empowerment, and Sustainability. This paper highlights the importance of using a structured approach to ensure comprehensive evaluation. Proper selection and aggregation of indicators emphasize the importance of context-specific indicators to ensure accurate and effective programme evaluation and lead to providing valuable insights for programme assessment and future improvements.
