Dr. C V Sameer Kumar

He is the Senior Principal Scientist & Head, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, PJTSAU, Hyderabad, India. He has  29 years of research experience in the field of crop improvement as a plant breeder with expertise in cereals (Rice, sorghum, pearl millet, maize, finger millet, foxtail millet and small millets, Legumes (pigeonpea, Chickpea and groundnut, green gram, black gram and horse ram), oil seeds (castor, sunflower, sesame, canola, safflower and soybean) and cotton. He worked in multi environments with national and international donors and partners from NARS, Private Industry and CGIAR. He also possesses seven years of international experience at ICRISAT as a lead pigeonpea breeder. He Possess strong background on conventional breeding and application of genomics assisted breeding in terms of deployment of markers for trait improvement. He developed and released 43 OPVs and hybrids in field crops which are popular among the farming community. He Executed 37 national and international projects. He Guided 23 students for PG and Ph.D. He published more than 100 peer reviewed papers in international (Plant Genome, Frontiers in plant Sciences, Agronomy, Plant Genome, BMC Genomics, Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Genetics and Genomics, Euphytica, Plant Breeding, Plant Molecular Biology, Theoretical and Applied Genetics, Scientific Reports) and national journals many journal articles,  Conference proceedings (70),  Books and book chapters (18). He delivered several Invited Talks in International and National conferences.
